One Month In
Just over one month ago, I had the honor of being sworn-in for my second term as Commissioner. I was then appointed by my fellow commissioners as the new Chair of the Board. Thank you to everyone who attended the Swearing-In Ceremony and to all those who weren't able to attend who made the day possible by supporting our campaign.
Since that day in January, we have been hard at work implementing the promises we made during the campaign, including:
- - Increasing transparency in county government – Under a new policy, commissioners will deliberate and discuss contracts that come before the board before voting. The board can then consider a motion to vote on the item(s) discussed during the next week’s regular meeting.
- - Ethics reform in the county workplace – Campaigning in county workplaces is now prohibited, including circulating candidate petitions.
- - Investing in economic initiatives that benefit the whole county – The Amended 2016 Budget includes over $175,000 in local economic development grants throughout Centre County.
These new policies are a strong start to restoring trust in Centre County Government. With your continued support, we will continue to reform our local government and move Centre County forward over the next four years.
